I find most babies don't hit their actual cute stride until about 6 months when they've become all round, smile freely, and are taking real interest in the world around them. I'm actually also a kid person myself...babies just aren't that interesting. I find little kids totally fascinating because their thought processes are so different from ours and so they'll say things that we would never think of saying.

None of the people I know who have had babies recently are the type to push the babies on anyone. They know that people in general like to see the babies, so they bring them around the workplace for little 10-minute visits. And generally if you want to hold the baby then you need to ask them, not the other way around. So luckily I haven't had to deal with any pushy parents...everyone around me seems very well-adjusted, so I don't fault them for occasionally expressing parental pride. ^_~

Personally I wish I could have a kid that is already fully-formed and potty-trained! I can't see adoption really being an option, though, so I guess I have to go through the boring baby parts to get to the good kid parts.
