If you haven't seen it already, let me introduce you to your feel-good moment of the day. This should make you smile, maybe even get a little teary. She's just so amazing. The idea that this voice has been hidden from the world for so long while undertalented teenagers get more exposure than they could ever deserve is sad, but maybe this mistake will at last be rectified and people will see that musical talent is its own beauty.

You go, Susan. IMO you sound better than most of the Fantines I've heard.

I'm going to be thinking of this, and fuming, the next time I'm at work, watching American Idol, and screaming things like "sharp!" "flat!" and "pick a key! I don't even care if you pick the right key! Just pick a key and stick with it!"

Haha, I can't even watch that show. It's so depressing how little actual musical talent some of the people have, it makes me angry. Hell, most of the people I knew in HIGH SCHOOL could outsing many of the contestants without breaking a sweat.

I can sing better than half of those people, and aside from one fun panel at a convention, I haven't had a lick of vocal training since my range dropped.

Ugh, I know what you mean. I've been dumbfounded by other people watching around me telling me that X contestant has a great voice, while all I can hear are jarring key changes. I have zero interest in watching any of those shows (even though I tried out for Canadian Idol myself years ago, mostly because of encouragement/dares from others...at least I knew that I sucked in my audition and cut my song short because of it!).

Me too! I've had the song in my head since I first watched this yesterday afternoon. Her voice is so fresh and sweet. I knew that she was going to be good, but I kept thinking she would sound...older? With more vibrato? Leaning more towards operatic? I'm not sure. But it turned out that she has exactly the kind of voice that I adore, and I was simply blown away.

Agree completely. It brought tears to my eyes when I was watching it.

I've watched it several times and it's brought tears to my eyes every single time. I'm beginning to wonder how many viewings it takes before I stop getting sniffly!

I also really wanted to rip an mp3 of the song from the video, but those two chaps keep talking through it so that kind of ruins that idea >_<. She had damn well better get a recording contract, because I'll buy the album!
