...also known as More Toronto Stuff.

Stuff I forgot to add last time:

-The flash on my camera ran out only halfway through the wedding. I finished up my first film and Rick was nice enough to give me one of his...and then my stupid flash dies. So I have no pictures from the reception. >_<

-How could I have neglected to mention the moustaches on pretty well all the women of Cindy's in-laws? Man! I've never seen anything like it! A couple of them had tried to do something about it, but others just left it so that it was all you noticed when you looked at their faces. Yargh. If I had a big black hairy upper lip I'd do something about it.

Okay, so more on my trip. What day was I up to? Oh yeah, after a novel-length entry, I managed to cover all of 3 days. Only a whole 'nother week to talk about!

Okay, so getting down to business.

Sun: Relaxed for half the day, then once more took the train back to the burbs to Mellie's parents' house, where the relatives who hadn't gone home yet were all getting take-out. Seemed like everyone was getting take-out from this place called Lick's, so I ordered a chicken burger. Then Rick comes back with the Lick's orders and Chalet Suisse for himself! Augh! Chalet Suisse (or Swiss Chalet everywhere else but Quebec) rocks, they have the my favourite cause in the world, and if I'd known Rick was going there I would have placed an order. Still, my chicken burger was good, and Rick had ordered extra sauce which I happily ate by itself with a spoon. Yes, I love that sauce that much. We watched a bit of MXC, because that was on at the moment...and no fair, how come they can pick up Spike TV in Ontario? Anyway, once dinner/TV was over, Ma called Judy like she always does on Sun nights, so I talked to her for a minute, but we had to run to catch the train back to the city. So that was that day, not a lot going on.

Mon: The earlier days of this trip are starting to blur together a bit, but I'm pretty sure this is the day Mellie and I went back to Cindy's old apartment to help Rick and Judy move the last of the stuff out of it. Then we went to a very late lunch (more like a 3pm meal-thingy, since I'd already had lunch) at a pasta place. *sigh* I need to learn that no matter how many different dishes I try, I simply don't seem to like pasta. I want to like it, but it just doesn't work out. Anyway, Rick showed us the bunches of photos he'd already had developed from the wedding and stuff while we ate. The weather was pretty miserable that day, really cold, windy and rainy to make up for how nice it had been the first couple of days.

After eating, we made our way through the icky weather to the Paramount to see Cat in the Hat. Weird movie, as if it wasn't sure what it was trying to be. It had a couple of quiet-chuckle moments and only one real laugh-out-loud line. I suppose this'll spoil anyone who plans to see it, but whatever, it's not really worth spending money on anyway:

Cat: *leaps over the fence and falls down, comes up holding a muddy garden hoe* *to the hoe* You dirty hoe. *drops it and leaves the scene, comes back a couple of seconds later and grabs up the hoe again* *while getting close to the hoe* Aw, I didn't mean it, baby, you know I love you.

Much of this movie had this vaguely more adult humour in it, but only that line really caught our attention.

Once the movie was over, we made our way back home. It was getting really cold, and we needed groceries, but we needed heavier jackets and mittens first. So once we warmed up a bit, we went back out again to pick up more chicken and juice for me and soy milk for Ed who was all upset because he had no milk for milk-and-cookies. I don't remember the rest of the night, we probably just watched one of the DVDs I'd brought, like we did most of the nights.

Tues: Crap, what happened this day? I don't remember. Heck, maybe I got this day and Monday mixed up. Let's see what I can pull out of my ass...

Okay, I think this is the day we were meeting Mellie's friend for dinner at some vegetarian place (you can't say I'm not willing to try stuff!), and we went out shopping during the day. It seems I like to spend money, yes I do! We went to Urban Outfitters and I bought a Jesus action figure for Kel for Xmas, which she better get a kick out of because it was overpriced at $13. We also saw Happy Bunny mugs, but they were expensive too ($14), and Mellie thought I could get them somewhere else for cheaper, so I didn't buy one then. We also went into the Toys R Us and I bought the rest of Marie-Eve's birthday present...a Strawberry Shortcake doll. It smells good! *inhales the doll* I do believe I forgot to mention that the rest of her present is a nice glass thingy with a horse in it on a base with coloured lights. Kinda pretty.

Yeah, I know Marie-Eve and Kel don't read this, so this is all okay.

Anyhoo, Mellie was also buying little things to give to her friend that evening (because her birthday had already passed), and I remember going in the Eaton's Center for something, where I forced Mellie to look like a tourist and take pictures of the cool Christmas decorations in there. Those photos turned out to dark to bother scanning, though *sigh*. And hey, the Santa there has a real beard! Not like most fake mall-Santas! Cool ^_^.

Oh, and I never did get my picture taken in front of that cool enormous lit-up Christmas tree downtown. Fooey. And did I mention there had been some snow on the ground when we left the house that morning? It was pretty cold that day.

We walked back to a candy store that sells more than candy to see if there were Happy Bunny mugs there, but all there was was Happy Bunny toilet paper O_o. Too bad...so we'd have to go back to UO another day to pick up that mug.

We met Mellie's friend and her boyfriend for dinner, and I ended up not liking what I ordered very much, but that wasn't so bad, because I can never finish what I order anyway. Once that was done, we went home and crashed and pulled the TV into Mellie's room to watch some MXC on tape that I'd brought. I'd hoped to show Mellie what a crazy-funny show that is, but she kept falling asleep and not watching, so that didn't work >_<.

Wed: We made our way back to Cindy's old apartment to pick up the van, and drove back to the burbs again with full laundry bags to do at Mellie's parents' place. Woo hoo, free laundry! While we waited for Wendy and the kids to arrive (since we were taking Damian for the night), Mellie and I ran out to get take-out. You can guess where I went ^_^. Mm, sauce! Mellie got sushi, the vegetarian kind of course, and when we arrived back at the house our laundry was mostly done and Wendy and the kids were there.

That moron Jason was out in the car. O_o?? Apparently it seems that when they'd gone to McD's, he'd asked Wendy to pick up some hockey cards that are the promotion of the month there. She forgot while getting the food, so they had a fight, and he decided to stay outside in the car in the cold and sulk while everyone else ate inside in the nice warm house. His choice, but man...must be hard for Wendy to have to take care of three kids.

Once dinner was done, we all drove to the arena because Rick (I just wrote "Risk" there! Gah! *baps self*) had a hockey game, and Damian likes hockey too. So we watched that game and Damian and I managed to pick out Rick, who plays defence. His team was behind 3-2 near the end of the game, and then one of the opposition got a penalty in the last couple of minutes. Man, did he put up a fight about it! God, take your penalty like a man. He swore at the refs until they finally kicked him out of the game and told him to go to the dressing room. One of his team tossed the room key at him, which he hurled back on the ice like an immature idiot. Rick's team managed to take advantage of the penalty and tied the game up, so the idiot yelled and swore more from the doorway. Geez, nice example for the kids who were watching.

Anyway, once the game was over, we sat around for a while in the bar-like area of the arena (our arena so doesn't have that sort of thing O_o) for a while with Rick, then Mellie and Damian and I left. The original plan had been to go and drop off the van at Cindy's old apartment again (because Mellie didn't have a parking pass to park near her place) and then take public transit back to the apartment. Trouble is, we had our backpacks full of now-clean laundry, Damian's overnight bag, and Damian himself. We all knew Damian would fall asleep in the car, and he knew it too, but he insisted that we could just wake him up when we dropped off the car and he'd be able to get up and walk just fine to take the metro and stuff.

Yuh-huh. We changed the plans and decided to drop off the stuff and Damian at the apartment before taking the van back...and we were very right to do so, because Damian was zonked and there was no way in hell he was gonna wake up all the way. So I got to carry everything else in while Mellie dragged the Damian-sack-of-potatoes out of the van and attempted to carry him. Four-year-olds are big and heavy and we had two flights of stairs to the apartment, so eventually Mellie did rouse him enough to get him to walk on his own...although he would fall back to sleep against the wall, the stairs, anything he could lean on if left alone for a few seconds.

Luckily, Stacy was home, so we got Damian into his pyjamas and into bed, and left to take the van back. Dropping that off and taking public transit back took a while, and we flopped into bed when we finally got home.

Thurs: Woke up way too early to Mellie's voice: "You did pee..." Kinda glad Damian wasn't sleeping in my bed...ick. Lesson: four-year-olds must be taken to the bathroom before bed. Luckily, I could go back to sleep for a couple more hours. I don't think Mellie did...

Anywa, this was the reason we were keeping Damian with us...off to Casa Loma! Of course, we had to end up with an icky day for that. I don't think it stopped raining for a minute all day long. I was wearing my black jeans that are a little too long, so they drag on the ground and collect water. They soaked up water all day, right up to my knees in the back. Ick. Big puddles everywhere, and we had to walk a bit to get to the castle with only one umbrella between the three of us. And did I mention that we were sort of on a deadline for when we were supposed to bring Damian back, so I didn't eat before leaving the apartment? I also didn't pick up lunch on the way.

So we went through the castle, looking at most of the rooms (I think we missed a couple in the end). Anyone who wonders can look it up...all I'm gonna provide is that it was built in 1911 but some very rich guy who wanted an authentic-looking medieval castle to live in. It took them 3 years to build it, and he only got to live in it for 10 years before he became not to rich any more, and now it's a sort of museum. The best part was going to check out the towers. There's one open one and one closed one, and each has two levels of very tightly-spiraled iron staricase to reach them. These are only wide enough for one person at a time, so if someone's coming up, you have to wait your turn to go back down. Of course, these staircases were the only thing I remembered from Casa Loma from the time I went there as a little kid, so I just had to go up them. And because I had to, Damian insisted on following even though Mellie didn't really want him to. So we all went up and took pictures and stuff. Damn rain, I wanted to stay out on the open tower longer and take more pictures.

Our first disposable camera ran out of film in the towers, so now I have to wait for Mellie to develop and send me the rest of the pics from the trip.

Anyhoo, after that we went to the basement and to the gift shop, where I bought a deck of cards (which I always seem to need), a shot glass for Kel (mandatory vacation-gift), and a Christmas tree ornament as a small anniversary present for my parents. Then we checked out the tunnel that connects the castle and the stables. Apparently one of the supposedly "true" ghost stories involve someone having seen a ghostly carriage in this tunnel, but that's impossible...the tunnel is too narrow. It did have a couple of dark corners to it, though, and a father decided to take advantage of on of those corners to jump out and scare his kids.

Once in the stables, we realized it was nearly 2pm, and we were supposed to have Damian back pretty soon, so we had to leave. No time for me to get any lunch again, adn we high-tailed it back to Cindy's old apartment, because the van we'd left there had Damian's car seat in it. We waited in the lobby, but Wendy and Judy had gotten lost, so we finaly just went up to the empty apartment to wait. We waited quite a while there, trying to amuse ourselves with absolutely nothing while sitting on the floor. Finally Wendy arrived and took Damian, but since she also had Christian and Judy in the car, Mellie and I couldn't fit for a lift back. So we were stuck taking the bus, which took a while to come and then was packed during rush hour...and did I mention that it was still pouring rain? *sigh*

We finally made it back to the apartment to dry out a little before we simply had to go out to dinner...it was after 5pm before I finally had my first thing to eat of the day. Mexican food, yum...but Mellie and I both made the mistake of having some fries >_<.

After that, it was another night of chillin' and watching DVDs. We watched Newsies for old times' sake, then I introduced Mellie to the lovely world of fanfiction. There really is fanfiction for everything. I thought Newsies, being a movie made up of 99% teenage guys and loved mainly by teenage girls, would be a ripe fandom for slash. But the first site we found (other than fanfiction.net) was 100% "Mary Sue Newsie arrives in NYC and falls for Author's Favourite Newsie" or "Author Avatar gets sucked back in time to 1899 NYC and meets the Newsies". Yuk. Anyway, we had a good time laughing at just the fic summaries.

Welcome to the world of bad fanfiction, Mellie! Feel free to look up and laugh at as many as you like, now that you know the terms "Mary Sue" and "slash". Have fun!

Fri: Miserable weather continued. Stupid rain! Anyway, Mellie and I went out for brunch and I had some eggs Benedict, which is always good ^_^. Then I packed, and we went back to Urban Outfitters to get that Happy Bunny mug. It's a yellow one that says "You made me throw up a little". ^_^ Kel should love it.

I ate the last of my chicken for dinner, but then Ed came home and he needed food, so we decided to go out for dinner to that place where we'd had lunch my first day.

Okay, here come the explanations of those crazy titles I've been putting on the entries ^_^. It seems that when Ed gets something into his head, he'll say it over and over for hours and never get tired of it.

I think it started with Ed asking Mellie to make him tea, and there was a comment that she'd make a good secretary someday or something. So I said that was wonderfully misogynistic of him, and he says, "Yaaay, misogynism! ...Woo!".

And keeps saying it. Over and over and over with the exact same tone every time so that after a couple of times you can say it with him and be a chorus. So Mellie explained that he tends to get stuck on things and repeat them for hours, and she reminded him of something Schwarzenegger was supposed to have said, and that got him going with saying "Eating is not cheating" in a Schwarzenegger voice.

All the way to the restaurant, he kept saying it, and saying it even louder when we passed anyone else on the street. It became the catchphrase of the night, and probably for the whole trip. Once dinner was done, we started back, to the tune of "eating is not cheating". He he, and then this guy on the sidewalk asks what time it is, and Ed says it's 5 minutes before 9pm, and the guy says, "crap! I gotta get to the liquor store!" and takes off. Hilarious! He was probably joking, but it was funny anyway ^_^.

After that, Mellie and I went home while Ed went out to wherever he was going. We had to get up sort of early the next day because my flight was in the morning, so we went to bed.

And then suddenly at around 4am, Ed arrives home and starts making lots of noise...seems the rain was getting inside the walls or something. It hadn't leaked through yet, although the wall seemed to be bubbling out a bit. So at 4am, Mellie had to get up and help Ed move the computer away from that wall, along with some other stuff that was in the room. All the while, Ed's talking loudly (cause he's naturally loud) and calling his landlord and Rick, never mind the time O_o. From all the ruckus I thought that the place was actually leaking.

Sat: Got up, did the last of the packing, then Rick and Judy showed up to take us to the airport. Thankfully, they understand that one does not need to be at the airport two hours prior to the flight. We got there an hour before and there was no check-in line. My bag was checked and we still had enough time to get breakfast in the diner there before I had to be at the gate. Then I said my goodbyes...*sniffle*...and went through to wait.

I always set off the metal detector when I go through it. What's up with that? My earrings? The button on my jeans? That's all I've got.

Anyhoo, the plane was late arriving just like the last time, so our takeoff was delayed by over half an hour. Other than that, the flight was perfectly uneventful. And okay, I can understand that maybe you shouldn't play discmans while the plane is taking off/landing because who knows what electronic devices are up to, but what's the big deal with taking off my earphones? I had turned off my discman but left my earphones in, and the stewardess still insisted I take my earphones off. Explanations, anyone? The discman was off.

Anyway, that's the end of my trip. Boo hoo, all over. ;_; Who knows how long it'll be before the next one.

But since I can't say exactly what nights we were having this problem, I think I'll just mention Fucking Mouse and his family here. It seems that mice like to live in the bottom of Mellie's oven and make lots of noise while in there. They're also in the walls...I remember listening to one in the wall right beside my head while trying to sleep one night. I actually saw one of them while I was there, in the kitchen. It made me gasp, because it was it was this dark-coloured, fast-moving thing about as long as my thumb, and the first thing I thought of was giant bug! Took me a second to realize it was a mouse. Boy, those things are tiny! Stacy caught one in a trap while I was there and released it outside somewhere.

Sad addendum: Stacy accidentally killed one mouse while trying to clean out the oven, and possibly another one later. Poor guy, he's a vegan, he loves animals and all that, and we all wanted the mice taken somewhere else, not dead. One of them was probably Fucking Mouse, so named because it wouldn't stop making noise in the oven while we were trying to watch TV.

And that's all. If I've forgotten anything...well, I've written two novels already. Too bad.

The department Christmas party was Sat night, but I don't feel like typing any more. I'll talk about that later.
