Either that or they are a believer in the great geology conspiracy, that all geology departments are part of the same giant conspiracy of geology departments where researchers gather and exchange secret research information with other researchers, and discuss who they are going to let in to the cabal, and that you hold the keys for getting in. Obviously you, as a secretary in one university, know all the secretaries in all the other departments at all the other universities. What else could be true? Unless, of course, you're trying to deny the existence of the Conspiracy to Keep Kids Who Can't Spell Out Of Grad School.
P.S. If you really are part of a giant conspiracy, how are the hours? The hours in the great physics conspiracy suck, and so does the pay.
